Old shed project

It is going slowly

The first part was getting the roof off.

After the roof I got the siding off and removed the rotted wood replacing as needed.

Most of the wood frame was in good shape.

I had to sink some 4 x 4's for the door support. I also bought the T-111 siding and 1 x 6's for the roof last week but could not work on it this weekend due to rain. I did get one side cut and painted but have the siding storing dry in the new shed until I can get back at it when the weather clears and the wood dries out (the garbage bags are full of crushed aluminum cans that I will cash in soon).

Texas Drought

Get ready for vastly higher prices on most goods including food you buy at the grocery. Texas is a major agricultural state providing a substantial amount of our food supply.

This has been mostly ignored by the MSM but will have devastation effects on your budget (wallet). See picture slide show at link below.

We Are A Divided People

Kentucky is a diverse state with democratic strongholds in the cities and more down to earth farmers and individuals in the other counties. It is acceptable to spout liberal trash in the cities however if you try to counter it you will be attacked by someone in most places. It is almost always verbal and you cannot debate with closed minds so I usually do not bother. However I have recently noticed in this city that this is beginning to change somewhat in that the attacks are becoming less frequent and others are are starting to defend against them when they occur.

Battle lines are not yet drawn on a map but the signs of fortification are beginning. As I travel this state and southern Indiana it will be interesting to observe how this plays out. Already there is major distrust of the city dwellers from the "country folk". Most of the residents of the cities do not get out into the counties and are unaware of how they are perceived.

Woke up early this morning!

So I searched the net to see what was out there and came across this very interesting article.

This weeks preps!

This week I invested in more precious metals.

850 rounds of Brass, copper and lead to be exact!

I also picked up some vitamin C tablets, peroxide and alcohol from Sam's Club. I have also collected more seeds from the garden and I am currently drying them before storing them for the winter. While at a trip to Wally World I picked up some more Hoppes #9, gun oil, rechargeable batteries and some binders for the downloads I have been printing on various self sufficiency topics.

The new stock came in!

And I put it on the shotgun already.

Still waiting on the shorter barrel!

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

I looked at some shotguns at the gun show and made a decision.

This is my Mossberg New Haven 600AT that I bought from Montgomery Ward when I lived in Texas. It is to big for home defense having a 28" barrel with poly choke so I was thinking of trading or selling for a tactical shotgun. I decided that this would be a mistake. This gun accepts 3" shells and is perfect for turkey hunting and they are plentiful in this area. I decided to accessorize this one instead. It is almost identical to the Mossberg 500 and most parts are interchangeable. I ordered a new barrel for home defense.

And a new recoil reducing stock.

I will keep the old barrel for hunting but will keep the shorter barrel on it for home defense. I saw and shouldered a shotgun with one of these stocks at the gun show and believe that this will make me happy at a lower cost than buying a new tactical model as I will have a shotgun with multiple uses for the price of a new stock and barrel. So in effect I will have spent a little over $200 for the modifications instead of $700+ for a new tactical shotgun.

The light of freedom fading in America

What Awaits Young Americans

"Ah, but reality beckons.  Soon, its uncomfortable consequences will be in full bloom.  If twenty-somethings ever figure out what government has set them up for, the counter-culture unrest of the 1960s may look a picnic."

She makes an uncle proud!

Got some ammo cans!

Bought some ammo cans at the gun show today. Already filled and stored in the basement. I was worried about storing ammo in the damp basement and these cans with good gaskets will help me feel better about storing the ammo for long periods of time before being used. I also have a place to hide these outside of my home now just in case it may become necessary as the news lately has me even more concerned about the future of our nation and the possible events that could happen if we continue in this direction.

Gun Show Tomorrow

Going to look for spare parts for the AR, maybe a laser light and any good deals I happen to come across such as ammo cans.

This show is the bigger of the two that occur here and there should be a lot more stuff than was at the last one.I will post later in the day to let you know what I found.

Future preps

Soon I will buy this stove and install it in the basement for additional heating and cooking options. Tractor Supply has them for a decent price in this area (link below pic).

Preps I have neglected to disclose.

I bought several books that I have been slowly reading as I have time. I have not mentioned them before as work and keeping up with the news consumes much of my time. However I want to let you know about these resources.

This book is amazing in it's details and illustrations on how to do just about anything without power (easier with) and I never knew how to make so many things from foods to soaps.

I was worried about medicine after SHTF and bought this book. I have just started reading it and have been pleased with the information in the first two chapters about the history and uses of opium. I may buy some poppy seeds and grow these flowers in case I ever need to harvest their potential for healing that has been used for centuries without causing harm to the body. A little tea to calm the nerves and stress anyone?

Too Small To Save!

TSTS - this is you and I folks. The American middle class as individuals are too small to save and as a whole are being ignored by those inside the beltway.

If you want to be saved you will have to do it yourself. Learn to fix your own vehicles, learn some useful trades such as woodworking, basic plumbing, electric/solar repair, gardening etc... If the SHTF does not happen (Or if it does and you survive it will be the skills that we have acquired that will allow us to work, barter and trade for our survival.

This weeks preps!

This week I picked up a few items.
  • 3 additional magazines for the 9mm
  • An additional rain barrel
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Additional heirloom seeds
  • Nails
  • JB Weld
  • Vitamins
  • Gun oil and solvent
  • Drill bits for boring holes
I also got some work done removing the rotten wood on the old shed, picked another pot of string beans and some other vegetable from the garden. I also harvested some seeds from the heirloom beans and green peppers. We have not had any rain in weeks so I have had to water the garden with the hose multiple times. I added the extra rain barrel as an overflow to the first barrel. Rain is in the forecast here this week so I am hoping they will fill back up

Obama (THHO)

I am a Right Wing TeaBaggin’ Terrorist Racist, and any references I make to the current president can only be racially motivated … good or bad, evidently. My heart is not made of stone so the constant barrage of charges of racism is starting to weigh heavily upon my spirit. I must change my ways, change my rhetoric and be the hope. I see that now, thanks to Marxine (Go to Hell) Waters, Al (Kill the Jews) Sharpton and Sheila (Only This One) Lee.

So, how do I proceed from here? My wife gave the answer, the inspiration, the key.

Henceforth, until further notice, (or I just get too ticked off), I will direct all negative comments at the white half of Obama. I will do this by adding (THHO) to all uses of the One’s holy name, lest I use it in vain.
