Tonight!

The wife and I are going out tonight to meet with some friends from High School and after graduation. Karen does not usually drink however this bar has a blender and she likes the fruity concoctions that come from said blenders as well as the people attending.  There will be old friends aplenty, liqueur and good times for all.

After doing a whole bunch of chores and mulching the leaves of 3/4 of the neighbors front yard (He just lost his wife to a coronary and I like him). I am going to take a nap and then get ready for this evening as I am sure it will be fun.

Also with the wife drinking I am hoping for a SPECIAL event to happen. OK all guys are pervs, at least I have been faithful with a woman who has gone through the change for 17+ years and counting. How many of you can say that without lying?

I love my wife so sue me!

This weeks preps

This week I purchased several items including this chainsaw. There are a couple of small trees that have grown up on the fencing that my neighbor and I want to cut down. I also want to get a wood burning stove in the basement so I will need this for other "prepping purposes".

And this fire-pit to burn the branches and crap that the neighbors let grow over the fence as well as the tomato vines and stuff from the garden that I am not composting.

I am pleased with the performance and will use this to entice the wife out to the patio this winter as well.

I also purchased a digital kitchen scale to measure amounts of various items for cooking as well as being able to barter/trade goods in the future. Along with this I also purchased a new book that has been on my wish list for a while now.

Out of my comfort zone!

I stopped by Walmart on the way home from work to pick up some items before the holiday. The place was absolutely packed as I have never seen it before. There were many young adults/teenagers hanging around obviously not there to purchase anything. This made my self preservation sense kick in to high mode. I found myself constantly looking around at those close to me.

Occasionally I felt my personal space invaded and became very uncomfortable with the crowd and those too close behind me. People today (especially the younger ones) have little understanding of the comfort zone of personal space and will invade it without a second thought. I had more patience with the older ones for some reason maybe because they were less of a threat to me.

Absolutely no one acted as an actual threat however I was concerned by way some of these people were dressed, their actions and their very bad vocabulary which including cursing every other word. Many were unhappy at the long checkout lines however most behaved. Some groups of youth gathered in the isles blocking shoppers, one young girl had a group of about ten followers and was complaining that "that bitch was complainin cuz I smoked in her place and I said fuck that shit hoe..." as I maneuvered around them. These people have no regard for others in any way, shape or form. They do not even realize or care that others are around them let alone their feelings as to such language.

This leads me to the point of this post. Once again I feel the need to carry a concealed weapon. I do not like that it is coming down to this as I can usually avoid trouble. However I am growing increasingly concerned about my ability to avoid trouble due to the fact that trouble is showing up more frequently in every type of location and venue.

I am going to start looking for a smaller 9mm that I can carry inside my waistband and hope to hell I will never have to pull it out. I will only pull it out if escape is not possible and I fully intend to pull the trigger to eliminate the threat. I have had a CCDW in this state for years, went through the training, shoot at the range and have never felt the need to carry as much as now. I have not carried for years after leaving the security management industry but as soon as I find a comfortable carry weapon that I can shoot well with I will start again. It is getting much worse out there on a daily basis look around pay attention and you will see it too.

If anyone has a recommendation for a small 9mm leave it in the comments.

FIFO Can Tracker

This is a picture of our upstairs pantry closet. I wanted to show you how I have used the First In First Out (FIFO) can trackers. I like the fact that it rotates my can goods for me so I do not have to check dates and shuffle cans once a month as well as the fact that the shelf just looks cleaner and more organized.

This is actually less than two purchased units as I had to remove one section for it to fit in my closet. Each unit holds three rows and I put two units together to make an extra row which did not fit. The new unit I ordered came yesterday and I added the leftover section to it making an additional four row unit.

Corruption and Do-Nothingness in Government

Secrets of the American Nomenklatura

My personal opinion is that the land of the free and the home of the brave is gone. It has slowly turned for years now to the home of I will sell my neighbors and my country for a personal profit/gain. The last three years of greed have sealed our (middle class) fate. Only a catastrophic collapse of government will give us any chance at rebuilding what our founding fathers gave us.

The current Golden Rule for the U.S.A. (New American Government Bible (Unpublished 2008) was shortened to "Do Unto Others for this is the Law"!

We did this to ourselves by going about our lives and not paying attention to the leftist indoctrinations of our educational institutions, media and government. We were all fooled by gradual changes that were implemented by playing on our compassion for others and our need to help. We did not properly vet or watch our politicians closely. We did not listen to those who warned us. As a country we no longer have the Hardheartedness that it will take to save our republic.

Extreme Makeover Shotgun Edition!

Here is what I started with it is a New Haven 600AT by Mossberg (Almost the same as a 500).

First I got an 18" barrel to replace the 27" barrel with poly choke.

Then I added the Knox stock (recoil reducing) with accessories.

Then I bought a new MAKO hanguard with rails.

And here is the transformed old shotgun ready for home defense.

I thought about purchasing a new tactical shotgun until I went to the gun show and saw prices in the $600-$900 range and remembered this old gun I bought at Montgomery Ward back in the early 80's. I fixed this one up the way I like it for less than $250 and this one even takes 3" shells.

This weeks preps

This week I received several items from Amazon. Blogger messed with my link with pictures interface so I can no longer use it. Oh well never made any money off of it I just used it to show preps I had purchased. Anyway below are the items for this week I went ahead and linked them if you want to click through to see the picture of the items;
I have already put the can tracker together but have not filled it yet and I have installed the new handguard on the Mossberg shotgun (I will take some pics and post more about this this weekend). The other items are put away until needed however the Dutch Oven will probably be used next week if I can find a good roast at the grocery this weekend (or maybe some Chili).

    Should I Buy a Gun?

Twenty years ago I would have considered someone with thousands of rounds of ammunition accumulated a nutjob. Today it is normal for an ever increasing segment of our society, funny how things change.

Hope and Change has had a dramatic impact here in flyover country with drastic increases in gun and amunition sales, attendance at gun shows and more gun shops sprouting up everywhere. What were once nutjobs are now the common working class people concerned about the protection of life and liberty and now I R 1 2.

    Should I Buy a Gun?

Be sure to read the comments. Lots of recommendations for the Mossberg 500 ( I will finish upgrading mine and post later this week).

    This weeks Preps

This week I did not acquire a single prep, I however will now be better prepared none the less due to what I have lost this week. If you have followed this blog I have posted about losing my job and having to move back to Kentucky in my old house. When I moved to another state I let my mother in law stay here rent free and I was paying two mortgages. After losing my job we moved back into the basement and let the mother in law continue to occupy the first floor of our house. I started paying half the utilities and buying all of the food. For some time now I have paid all of the bills and for all of the food and every consumable brought into this house so that SHE could save up to move out. Yesterday we helped her move out and I have my whole house back again. Three years of free rent and she did not thank me, she did not even thank me for help haulin all her shit out.

Before she moved in I had the whole house painted and new carpeting installed for her to feel more like it was her home she even chose the colors.

She had such a wonderful time hanging pictures with tape and Velcro.

And her untrained dogs and cats did several numbers on the carpet as well as her not even bothering to clean anything for several months.

Remember folks that family can stick it to you worse than anyone. I will try to clean the carpets, but will probably have to replace them, and get the house repainted.

The positive side is I will have more room to prepare and less stress once I get everything back in order. Even though household expenses will drop I will probably only be able to add small prep items for a while but I am content with that for now.
