Went to work this morning and got sent home

Had a hard time getting ready this morning and got to work a half hour later than usual. Which by the way means I was still 20 minutes early. After the boss got in and talked to me he made me leave as I still sound and look like crap and he did not want me spreading anything around. So I am going to see if a few beers will help me get a nap in and take it easy today.

I am sick and do not feel well so why in the hell am I also feeling guilty for not being at work?

Congress tries to police itself on insider trading

It is to late for Congress Critters to try to repair their trust. It is gone now and has been for some time according to the polls. Keep your silver Judas Iscariots it is too late now to save what you have destroyed by selling us out! Your retribution is to to follow as Judas' did.

The Durango Herald 01/29/2012 | Congress tries to police itself on insider trading

Sooner or later there will be a Reckoning for all of them! They have and are playing their hands to their own detriment and now some are trying to save themselves. We are not all blind to what is occurring all over this country.

Additional preps

I am worried that TPTB are escalating faster than I expected. From what I have been following I believe I need to step up the preps as fast as I can.

I went to Sam's this morning and purchased 2 twenty five pound bags of flour and two twenty five pound bags of rice. I have been purchasing 5 Gallon buckets at Lowes that are actually food grade (I checked the manufacturers website). However I also purchased seal-able bucket liners with Oxygen Absorbers to add an additional barrier and prolong storage. I have already used these buckets for storing water See Previous Post Here.

On a side note K did not question these purchases when I brought them in the house. This may be because I am sick, feel like shit, sound congested and she feels sorry for me or she is finally listening and coming around. I am not going to try to find out and just accept it as is.

Should a Navy ship be named after Murtha?

Liberties

Every day we see them less and less. Some are getting very Furious at what they see as an over reaching government hell bent on controlling every aspect of their lives to the point of subjugation. Many are mad at the government and blame it for the evils that have brought about this "Recession".

What has been allowed to happen in this country is because WE THE PEOPLE allowed it to happen. Men have taken advantage of the system of government from within to our detriment. We have been asleep at the wheel for far to long and the vehicle is about to leave the pavement. Injuries will result and survivors will dust themselves off.

Today Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky was detained requested to wait by the TSA while trying to get to Washington. Think what you will about his father however this man has the right of it, we are being subjected to indignities that Americans should not have to go through. There are other ways to secure travel without pat-downs and humiliations.

Is this a plot or conspiracy by a person or persons to destroy our nation? I do not know. What I do know is that we are being pushed to far. Lies, power grabs, criminal actions and the systematic destruction of our Constitution is increasing daily.

More Americans are are waking from their slumber and realizing what is going on. This great nation has been a sleeping giant. The snores have stopped and restlessness abounds. The people are what makes this nation great and we are resilient. Beware the waking giant for when the common cause is great enough they will redress their grievances. What they refer to as flyover country (that between the airports of New York, the Beltway and Kalifornia) is where America's heartland is and it is strong indeed when united by kin and cause. We are not as separated as they believe when we have faith, principles and the conviction of our beliefs in God and Country.

Last weeks preps

No pix but this last week I picked up;
  • Two Blue Hawk 4 tier heavy Duty Self
  • Two bags of Lime
  • Two bags of 10-10-10 fertilizer
  • Two 4x4x8 posts for repairing fence line against the house

Many people are going to lose it!

K is on an antidepressant and like my own meds for hypertension I have been refilling scripts a week early for months now. I take the extra weeks worth and put them back, when we refill we take the accumulated amount first. This allows us to save the newest meds thereby rotating. When we refill now for a months worth we basically use the refill from 3 months ago. We will both cut back slowly to wean ourselves off when the SHTF.

Fantabulus!

Tonight K made homemade macaroni & cheese with Manwiches and I spread both over a couple of pieces of bread. Two plates of this simple great tasting meal and I am stuffed! Thank you K!

Truth be told she was feeling down and usually creates "fancy dishes" however (do not tell her) I liked this a whole lot better than most. Maybe because I do not get it often but tonight who cares.

A Start!

I helped a neighbor move a bunch of his recently passed ex-wife's furniture today. We actually went to grade school together and have been on good terms for 15 years when they moved in across the street. He offered to pay for gas which I declined, he then offered a 12 pack and again I declined. I told him I would ask for a favor in return later.

As I carried furniture into his house through the kitchen and into his basement I took stock of what was there. Absolutely NO preps of any kind for anything. I plan on waiting a week and giving him a copy of  $5 a Week Food Prep Plan (see post below) and telling him that in a disaster we can both help others. This is my request for the favor you said you owed me, do what you can to stock up. Rotate and use what you buy, I will help show you how if you want. You owe this to your kids and I request this as a returned favor. May be by doing this I can guide him into thinking a little more about the possibilities/probabilities that exist today.

We will see how it goes. I told DIO I would try.

Texas PATCOM

From the reports so far it looks like the Texas PATCOM was a success and possibly the beginning of something desperately needed. My hopes are high for these folks.

Glad everyone has seemed to get more out of it than they put into it and almost everyone is home safe. If you are curious about this check the sidebar blog list.

That is all.

Sunday Stuff

Laundry is done.
Finally got K's New Curtain Rods hung over the picture window.
K is now re-arranging the living room furniture (again).
K is happy so I am happy!

Awaiting word on Texas PATCOM! Wish it was not so far. Lived close to there for about seven years & liked Cut & Shoot (Nice store there with a deli and plate lunches). I bet Conroe has grown too since I left the state.

Back to my Binge.

Time for an update

I am going to be playing around with updating this site this week. Please be patient while I work on a new look!

This weeks preps

This week I ordered some items I have had on my wish list for quite some time. I plan on taking better advantage of local sales of food such as hamburger, fruits and vegetables. And I will also try my hand at beef jerky. We had an abundance of some items from the garden last year and had to give a lot away or let it go to waste. Now we will be able to dry and store more.

Concealed Carry

I have had a concealed carry permit for almost five years. I have never felt the need to carry daily, only if a perceived potential problem arose and only for short periods. I have not carried for three years until recently. After getting the Taurus Slim last month I also got an IWB holster and have been carrying when not at work.

Since last summer I have increasingly run into individuals while out in normal everyday areas that had no respect for others (or themselves) to the point of displaying aggressive tendencies.  I used to teach non-violent crisis intervention and I know that none of these techniques would have worked with these individuals. There was no team to back me up if anything escalated. Fortunately I know when to get out/away and have been able to do this so far. As months have passed I have observed that this may not always be the case even remaining aware of my surroundings when out in public I feel that this may not be enough much longer.

During the holidays when the supermarket was closed I went to the convenience store around the corner. There were a group of individuals inside that made me very wary by their foul language, talking of their baby mamas and other activities as well as the fact that the waistbands of their pants were around their thighs reinforced my resolve.

From now on I will be carrying when not at work. While at work it will be secured in my vehicle. It is my extreme wish to be left the hell alone and to go about my business, however this is increasingly becoming less possible.

This weeks preps

I did not get much this week as the wife (K) and I went to the local Peddlers mall and she found some furniture and dishes she wanted so my cash was a  little strapped after that excursion.

  • Gas Stabilizer
  • Two packs of sewing needles
  • Four spools of thread
  • Heavy Duty household needles
  • Two boxes of 12 GA #6 Shot
  • Package of Velcro straps

Mail

I sat down this morning to pay bills and get them ready for the mail. This is a job I really hate but writing checks gives me the opportunity to decide when they get paid instead of automatic withdrawals.
Today however I saved one envelope for last. You see I got another mailer from AARP this week. So I threw everything away except the postage paid return envelope. I took a post it note and put all the "May Cause Dizziness" stickers from old prescription bottles all over it. I then put the post it note inside ensuring that the sticky part was firmly stick to the envelope, sealed it and will drop it in the mail Monday. Another postage fee charged to the dirtbags and I will do something like this every time I get a mailer!

I went to a new range today!

I have not had the opportunity to shoot the AR since adding the scope and bi-pod. It took a quite a few rounds to learn to adjust the scope but finally got it centered. The new facility was nice however you could not shoot a handgun in the rifle range nor a rifle in the handgun range so after waiting an hour for a lane to open we decided on rifle range only. The place was packed almost standing room only they even opened up their classroom for people to sit and wait. The young lady that signed us in stated that it has been this busy pretty much every day since about two weeks before Christmas.

My nephew wanted and got a Mosin–Nagant for Christmas so we took him to the range to try it out. Here he is firing the AR with the new scope and bi-pod. He is a really good shot already having gone through ROTC at his high school. He displayed very good gun safety techniques and respected all the weapons properly, his "Uncle" watched closely and did not have to correct him once. I was very proud of him.

Another Scowl from the wife!

Some of the stuff I ordered game to the porch while I was out. The wife dutifully grabbed the boxes and brought them inside (Bless her!) as soon as they arrived. When I got home there were several boxes inside the door. After giving her a kiss she asked "What the hell is in that heavy box?".

So I told her it was some ammo! Immediate scowl ensued and conversation ended for about a half hour. All is well now.

Obulb & GE

Obulb

Food for thought

New Years Eve has always been fairly quiet in this neighborhood. In years past at midnight there were the occasional yelling, banging of pots and pans, fireworks and maybe a gunshot or two. This year there was no yelling, no banging of pans, a few fireworks and a LOT of gunfire. Some was even semi auto although all were small arms fire. The wife even commented on it and I told her we could do some too! Which earned me a scowl from her until I stated I had some bottle rockets in the basement. I do not fire weapons to just make noise!

I considered going outside to determine type and location of the gunfire then thought better and stayed inside. The conclusions I have drawn from this are;
  1. There are a lot more weapons in this older neighborhood than I thought
  2. The "neighbors" do not understand OPSEC
  3. This year did not FEEL as happy as last year as the tone was gunfire and noise (no cheer)
  4. I should feel better that my area is better armed as it is solid middle class
  5. I do not feel BETTER about it!

Gun Show Preps

I went to the gun show yesterday looking for some specific items most of which I did not find or it was to expensive. However I did manage to pick up a few items.

  • Two Lasers with rail mounts and extra batteries
  • Two containers of pepper spray
  • Three pack of Strike Anywhere matches
  • Packaged surgical set
  • Balaclava
  • Two Saw ammo cans
