Paying off the bills and prepping

I have been busting my butt at work lately, sorry for the lack of posts, and it has started to pay off somewhat. My last check had my monthly commission included and when I got a look at my pay voucher it was about as expected $9,980.00 Gross.

Just for the record lets break it down to see what the gummint gets.

First lets take out the health insurance -133.64

Now for the taxes;

County                    -219.56
Federal                  -2151.00
Social Sec.               -611.72
Medicare                 -143.06
State                        -573.69
                              -3699.03

Of a nearly 10 thousand dollar payday I get very slightly over 6 thousand net. That,s right folks almost forty percent off of the top that never reaches me. And I have absolutely no say in this matter as to how much or even where it gets spent.

Now just for fun let us consider other taxes such as sales tax, taxes on fuel, property taxes and taxes on our cell phone bills (for free phones to those who do not work) and many others. Add all of this up and we are probably paying close to HALF of our earnings in taxes and it is going to get worse.

I am ready for the reset. Do I have everything I need for this? Absolutely not, however checks like these allow me to get closer and help others as well. I have purchased more food supplies for long term storage, barter materials, tools, books, paid all bills and owe only mortgage and monthly utilities now. This was a major break for me to be able to prep as much as I have in a short period of time. I could have done a lot more if half my pay was not taken stolen away from me.

Turn off the TV and begin to think for yourself. Pray, then prepare

I know preaching to the choir again, however I find it interesting when I see those not of the blog-o-sphere writing about what we have known for years.

A new Term I may adopt.

It's Not III% Think Fifty III%

"I have read estimates of those who were only able to support the revolutionary effort in the late 1700's as ranging anywhere from 30% to as much as 60% of the population. It varied of course geographically and depending on how well things were going and for whom at any given time but my gut feeling on the subject is that at least 50% or more of the population supported the men in the field at some point or another. I admit that is a gut feeling so I am open to other opinions on that subject of course.
When the balloon goes up and the Liberal/Feminist, Right grabbing, Big Government thugs make their move it will be the 53% who will supply the support, material and foodstuffs needed for the III% to begin defending Freedom."

Moral Worth?

What are your morals? Are they in line with mine? I was taught from an early age age that there is No Such Thing as a Free Lunch. If I wanted to EARN a living then would have to use my mind and muscles. These morals or ethics also instills a sense of accomplishment, pride in your work, integrity and a desire to learn and do more making one happier in life.

These used to be the morals of the majority of American workers. Below are two paragraphs taken from the article linked at the bottom of this post. They describe in words I could not a point I was trying to make.

"The United States has gone from a country that made for-profit jobs to a country that makes non-profit jobs paid for by the people who still work for-profit jobs. The transition is rapidly bankrupting the country on a municipal, statewide and national level. The Occupiers cheerfully brandished signs that declared, “One day the poor will have nothing left to eat but the rich.” More accurately the poor one day will have nothing left to eat but social workers. And the rich will be running companies contracting multilingual translations for hunger outreach services."

"The first casualties of an economy that rewards Barnard grads who want to save the world, but punishes men who dig out pools are the latter. The next group hardest hit are the middle class who are squeezed out by high taxes and economic uncertainty. These are the people on whose backs the non-profit state rests. And they are its natural enemies. The progressives hate the middle class and the sense of property and security that it represents, and yet they depend on it. Like a parasite they kill the host and destroy themselves in the bargain."

Crickets!

My last post was a month ago, the Monday following that post I went back to see Doc. BP at the office was 200/110. Unfortunately I have a very high drug tolerance and my body over time reduces the effectiveness of what I am prescribed. The good news is that I am now at maximum dosage of my two meds and BP is better than it has been in years.

Since my last post I have continued working and been very busy with compensation for my endeavors increasing. This has allowed me to increase my prepping substantially. I ordered some magazines from III Patriots which have already arrived, a 2300 Watt inverter for my solar panel setup, more freeze dried food from The Ready Store and some seeds from Bill's new Jebadiah Fisher garden seed (Link on left sidebar) that have not arrived but are due shortly. I have also acquired a few more books and guides/manuals for various topics as well as medical supplies.

I have watched the events of the last month and like others feel the storm approaching at an increasing pace. Many like myself have reduced the amount of material posted. Some due to the fact that we are spending our time on increased prepping and others simply because they are tired of preaching to the choir. There are some new voices out there in the blog world and even one or two old ones returning. I have added some of these to my blogroll as well as changing my link list to include Wirecutter's new Patriot Swap Shop that I hope takes off. I will shop at patriot sites first and foremost as these patriots are not trying to gouge customers. I have not bought any ammo as I rightly predicted price increases however the recent run caught me completely off guard. I have never witnessed such a buy out of not just weapons but ammo and accessories as well. Some stock seems to be coming back but I refuse to pay a dollar a round for ammo right now.

The fact that there are still lines at the local gun shops before they open is a telling tale as many wait in the cold to get their hands on any new shipments that may have arrived. Fear is growing and many more seem to be beginning to awaken from the fog towards awareness of the condition our country is in and the direction of our government. Our government has long given up on We The People for the We Are Your Masters mentality.

I expect the worst to come when the economy goes into its death throes. I know not what the final catalyst will be only that we cannot avoid the collapse of this economy. Half of America (and growing less daily) can not afford the continued support of the other half (also growing). Prepare as you see fit.
