Last weeks preps

As I was out of town all week there was nothing that I did around the home-front. All I managed to do was gather some items from the hotel I was staying at;
  • plastic combs wrapped in plastic in a cardboard sleeve
  • Facial soap wrapped in paper
  • Mouth wash  in small plastic bottles
  • Bath soap wrapped in paper
  • Packages of stir sticks, creamer & sugar (I drink my coffee straight)
  • Small bottles of lotion, shampoo & body wash
  • Matches
  • Sewing kits
  • Pillow chocolates
I took these items from this "5 star" hotel as they were supplied daily and part of the exorbitant room rate my employer paid. Also they charged me $13 a day for wireless internet on the days I used it (Hampton is cheaper and gives you free internet and breakfast) and $8 for a Budweiser out of the min-bar.

These items will be packaged as give a ways to neighbors and friends/family that are not prepping as I can leave them anonymously for those who smell and look the worst thereby improving my interaction with them (They will feel better about themselves and my olfactory senses will benefit).

Frost advisory

They are saying here we may get a heavy frost tonight and we have already had some light ones. I decided to go ahead and cut my eight tobacco plants out of the garden and hung them in the old shed. I still have not put the door on the shed and will probably wait so that the airflow will dry the tobacco faster.

Stock up now!

Good Intentions?

Why did I struggle to get off unemployment and become more self sufficient when it is this easy to get free taxpayer money and drive luxury cars with no income. I should have applied for everything out there and would be living a better lifestyle by not caring who pays my bills. However this is not the way I was raised and I am responsible for me and mine and I guess a majority of these folks now that I am still working. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

I think government intentions all along are to force us to be dependent upon them.

Back Home!

I got back home Thursday night at almost midnight. I was given no option for a pat down in Tampa so I had to get scanned and the hotel screwed up my transportation and I almost missed my flight. I had a 3 hour layover in Baltimore and needed a smoke so guess what I got scanned again as I had to go outside and then back through security to get back to the gate. Guess I cannot have children now but I was not planning to anyway as Thursday was my 50th birthday and I am to old to start a family.

Update fom Florida or Redneck out of his element but enjoying it!

I spent most of the day in training classes then we went to the beach for activities and I had a good time. Food and drinks were supplied. I took these snapshots from my phone.

A beautiful evening and sunset!

A Redneck at the Ritz

Last night on the balcony. No pat down and no scanner I was not pulled off to the side for any of these. However the plane rides messed with my ears so I relaxed with a little something I brought along in the checked bag. I was kinda surprised it was still there as the first thing I saw when opening my bag was this.

Bag looked like it had a really rough ride but was probably them rooting through my stuff. I bet I get the same note on the way home and that will be fine if I can keep my ass out of the ray machine.

Did I mention that I have to go to Florida!

Yes I have to go to frigging Florida for a National Business Meeting. It is the first trip that my employer is sending me on. I hate the Huge Ass Corporation that is sponsoring this meeting however it does provide a paycheck in these trying times so I should not bitch to loudly.

This meeting is at a five star hotel on the beach and I hope to at least get some time to walk the beach and have a few drinks and enjoy the evenings. I will take my laptop and try to post some pics during the week.

I have not flown in a few years so I am not looking forward to the security screening. I will try to get the body search instead of the scanner. Flight leaves in a few hours and I am mostly packed just have to shower and pack my toiletries and this laptop.

I got an email from my last ammo purchase.

A few weeks ago I ordered some ammo;
The ammo came as ordered within 3-4 days and I recommend the service and pricing. I went to ammoseek looking for the buckshot as I had none and it was on sale at a really good price at BulkAmmo.com while I was on their site I noticed good pricing on some 9mm and .223 and ordered some of it as well. I was happy with the entire order.

USPS may have finally got it right!

I usually buy stamps on rolls in which you cannot get forever stamps because they do not want to sell them 100 at a time however I would change to booklets if they sold my new favorite below.

Note to self!

Next year separate the carrot sprouts and plant them further apart!

Otherwise they grow together and wrap around each other.

Last weeks preps.

Nada, zero, nothin. I was flat broke this week and had to cash in some more "retirement" money just to get the bills paid.

Good news is I still have a job at less than half the pay of my last one but they are good people who treat me well and I really like them all. I hope that they do not find this blog though as I do not know what they would they would make of it (me being a crazy prepper and all).

Wife and I went shopping at goodwill yesterday looking for some furniture and she found a nice lamp with etched glass for $8 that we bought and made her very happy even though we need end tables to put it on. Mother in law will be moving out Nov. 1st and we get our house back and can move out of the basement. My house in Ohio still has not sold but the people that signed a lease-purchase are are sending the checks regularly and on time will hopefully buy it first of next year leaving me with only one mortgage again.

Prepping is hard but every little bit I add to them makes me feel better knowing something may be less difficult in the future. At least I have been able to read some books and get the old shed roof shingled.

How should the American people assess the performance of their president? One way is to examine key performance metrics, such as jobs, economic growth and inflation. This video offers a comparison of some of these metrics from at the beginning of President Obama's term to now. You can decide for yourself if you are better off than you were 3 years ago. A special thanks to John E. of the Ace of Spades HQ for providing the infographs used in this video, available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnnyshop/6196456311/sizes/o/in/photostream/

Last weeks preps

The rainy nasty weather mostly left on Friday, then it turned colder with frost advisory's. I managed to get some work done on the shed this weekend along with cutting grass and weed-eating.

First the sides cut and painted.

Then the front

Then the roof boards.

Sunshine forecast all week so I will nail the shingles on after work one evening this week. Next weekend I will work on the door.
